2008 schedule:
Spring Session:
Wednesday nights 7-10 PM, March 26 – May 21. This Spring session will focus on beginning skills but intermediate students are welcome to work on their own projects and pick the teacher’s brain. Topics covered will be heat control, shaping the bead, dots, stringers, raking, air trapped bubble, inclusions, use of silver and copper leaf, using enamels to color the glass, encasing, basic sculpture and etching.
Summer Session:
Monday nights 7-10 PM, June 9 to August 4. This session will be a special on cold working glass beads. We will alternate between making beads specially suited for cold work techniques and using the lapidary equipment at Riverbend to reveal the hidden patterns (“geode” and chevron styles are a couple of examples). We will also do some etching and possibly sandblasting.
Normal classes resume on Monday nights with a Beginner’s class in the Fall session and an Intermediate class in the Winter 09 session.
